my dictionary life: learning korean one word at a time is an illustrated korean-english dictionary for self-learners and anyone else who is learning korean and wants to supplement their textbooks with a bit of color and frivolity. 1000+ original drawings and their accompanying words are arranged in twelve categories:
1: food
2: home
3: tools
4: people
5: creativity
6: mathematics
7: recreation
8: city
9: farm
10: earth
11: time
12: sky
the korean words in the dictionary were reviewed and edited by native korean speaker and professional journalist eunbyul kim 김은별. eunbyul also edited the companion korean-english glossary. the title my dictionary life is an homage to a bittersweet life 달콤한 인생, a film written and directed by kim ji-woon 김지운, starring lee byung-hun 이병헌.
the category headings are in english, while your felt friends provide the korean translation to help you remember the words until you can recall them on your own.
the english translation of each series name is discreetly noted in the footer.
likewise, the english words for the illustrations are presented in a smaller, light grey font to help you focus on the korean words.
some words are more practical than others, but i hope that they are all equally fun to learn!
